Most first-time visitors want three photos: the Burj Khalifa from below, the view from the top, and the Dubai Fountain at night. Book Burj Khalifa At The Top for late afternoon so you see the city in daylight and at sunset in one visit. The Dubai Fountain show next to Dubai Mall is free and runs every evening.
The Dubai Frame gives you old Dubai on one side and Sheikh Zayed Road on the other, and the Museum of the Future is the building everyone photographs on the drive into the city. Both are on our attraction tickets list, so you can add them to any private city tour.
- Burj Khalifa At The Top (124th floor)
- Dubai Fountain show at Dubai Mall (free)
- Dubai Frame sky bridge
- Museum of the Future
- Palm Jumeirah and Atlantis photo stop
- Burj Al Arab from Jumeirah public beach
Old Dubai, souks and the creek
Old Dubai is where the city began, and it is the part many visitors skip. Walk the lanes of Al Fahidi, cross Dubai Creek by wooden abra for a few dirhams, then browse the Spice Souk and Gold Souk on the Deira side. A half-day Dubai city tour covers all of this with a driver waiting at each stop.
- Al Fahidi Historical District and Al Seef
- Abra ride across Dubai Creek
- Spice Souk and Gold Souk in Deira
- Jumeirah Mosque photo stop
The desert, the one thing you must not miss
An evening desert safari is the experience guests talk about most after they fly home. You get dune bashing in a 4x4, a sunset stop on the dunes, camel rides, a Tanura show and a BBQ dinner at a Bedouin-style camp. Shared transfers start at AED 150 per person, and a private SUV for up to six guests starts at AED 750.
If you have young children or prefer a quiet morning, the morning desert safari runs 9 am to 1 pm and focuses on dune bashing and sandboarding.
- Evening desert safari with BBQ dinner
- Morning dune bashing and sandboarding
- Quad biking or dune buggy add-on
- VIP camp seating with no queue for food
Evenings on the water
A dhow cruise dinner is the easiest relaxed evening in Dubai. Al Seef and Creek cruises are the budget choice from AED 75, while the Marina dhow cruise shows off the JBR and Blue Water Island skyline. Couples often pick the 3-hour Lotus cruise at Dubai Marina for the live music and international buffet.
- Dhow cruise dinner at Al Seef or Dubai Creek
- Marina dhow cruise with skyline views
- Private yacht charter for groups and birthdays
Theme parks and family days
Families with children usually plan one full day for Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, home to Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld and SeaWorld. In Dubai, kids love Green Planet, Ski Dubai and the Dubai Dolphinarium. Global Village is open in the cooler months and is one of the cheapest big nights out in the city.
Booking theme park tickets together with private transportation saves the long taxi queues at closing time.
- Ferrari World or Warner Bros. World on Yas Island
- Yas Waterworld and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi
- Global Village (seasonal)
- Ski Dubai, Green Planet and the Dolphinarium
How to fit it all in
Four to five nights is enough for the highlights above. If you want a ready plan, follow our Dubai itinerary for five days, or let us build Dubai tour packages around your hotel, budget and travel dates. Check the best time to visit Dubai before you book, because November to March is far more comfortable for outdoor tours.
